Georgia is offering a free fishing day for National Hunting and Fishing Day.

Saturday, September 24 is National Hunting and Fishing Day in Georgia and the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation Take Me Fishing program wants to celebrate with a day full of fun, free events for the family.

The U.S. Congress and President Nixon established National Hunting and Fishing Day in 1972 to recognize generations of hunters and anglers for the time and money they donate to wildlife conservation programs.

Georgia offers 3 Free Fishing Days in honor of National Fishing and Boating Week and National Hunting and Fishing Day on June 4, June 11, and September 24, 2022.

On these days, residents do not need a fishing license or a trout license to fish on any public waters in the state including lakes, streams, ponds and public fishing areas
