Georgia principal, resource officer jumps into action to save 8-year-old student from choking

Thanks to a student resource officer and principal’s quick thinking an eight-year-old’s life has been saved.

While Dep. Robert Lee was monitoring students at Roopville Elementary School on Apr.18, during lunchtime, he noticed something quite out of the ordinary.

SRO Lee reportedly had seen 8-year-old Gunner Duncan choking. Lee immediately jumped into action to help save Duncan’s life, while also alerting the school Principal Marla Turpin.

Lee along with Turpin both answered the call of duty with their selfless act of service, to help and comfort Duncan.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office recognized both Lee and Turpin for their life-saving actions and willingness to preserve life.

“Deputy Lee and Principal Turpin’s actions are to be commended and recognized and they are both tremendous assets to the students and staff and Roopville Elementary School,” the department said in a Facebook post.
