Georgia's 12th Congressional representative Rick Allen tested positive for the COVID-19 virus on Wednesday.

"Planned overseas travel required he take a test," said spokesperson Michael Plummer.

Allen was scheduled to travel with a congressional delegation to an undisclosed destination and took a precautionary PCR screening. "He was as surprised as the rest of us," Plummer said.

Allen's doctor said to avoid commercial travel for five days, and as a result will not be participating in the international trip.

"He is isolating, has no symptoms, and is feeling well," Plummer wrote in a statement.
