Which Georgia schools are closing for Hurricane Idalia Wednesday and Thursday? Here's what we know
Hurricane Idalia is pouring down on most of south and east Georgia after flooding many parts of Florida.
The storm will persist through Georgia tonight and deal some damage to the Carolinas on Thursday. The inherent dangers of traveling have caused many schools to close. Here's a look at those that have announced closures:
Georgia schools that closed Wednesday, staying closed Thursday
Brooks County Schools, in south Georgia near Valdosta. All after-school athletics are canceled as well.
Burke County Schools, south of Augusta.
Bryan County Schools, west of Savannah.
Bulloch County Schools, which oversees Statesboro's K-12 schools. All athletics, extracurriculars and aftercare services are closed too.
Camden County Schools, near Jekyll Island.
Georgia Southern University
Glynn County Schools, which oversees Brunswick's K-12 schools.
Liberty County Schools, south of Savannah.
Lowndes County Schools, which oversees Valdosta's K-12 schools.
Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools
SCAD in Savannah.

Colquitt County School District, which is southeast of Albany.
Effingham County School District, north of Savannah.
Richmond County School System, which oversees Augusta's K-12 schools.
Thomas County Schools, in southwest Georgia near Tallahassee, FL.
Thomasville City Schools, in southwest Georgia near Tallahassee.
Tift County Schools, north of Valdosta.
