Georgia Symphony Orchestra announces new leadership

Dec. 22—Suzanne Tucker has been named as the incoming executive director of the Georgia Symphony Orchestra, effective Jan. 9.

Tucker served in various church music leadership roles for 18 years in Cobb County, where she was lauded for her strategic planning and communication skills. Previously, she taught in the public school system for almost a decade, teaching music to students in grades K-12. Her teaching style and classroom techniques earned her the title of Teacher of the Year in her first year of teaching.

She lives in Marietta with her husband, Jeffrey, and their two sons, Jackson and Will.

Michael Knowles was also appointed Board Chair of the Georgia Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors, effective Jan. 1.

Knowles is a Senior Relationship Manager with Fifth Third Bank. A Cobb resident for over 27 years, he resides in Kennesaw with his wife, Pauline. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce and Cobb Travel & Tourism. He is a Past Chair of Cobb Travel & Tourism, Cobb Community Foundation, Chattahoochee Technical College and North Metro Technical College.
