Gerard Butler sues over $10 million in profits from ‘Olympus Has Fallen’

Hollywood star Gerard Butler is suing Nu Image/Millennium Films, alleging that they failed to pay him the $10 million in compensation for his role in the 2013 action film, “Olympus Has Fallen.”

In the lawsuit, Butler claims that the producer had downplayed the domestic and foreign receipts by millions of dollars and had failed to disclose that the film’s executives were paid $8 million, according to Variety.

“Producers have earned tens of millions of dollars from ‘Olympus,’ but refuse to pay Butler a penny of the grosses and profits promised to him in the parties’ agreement,” the lawsuit reads. “Butler refuses to tolerate Defendants’ misrepresentations and other wrongful conduct. Butler worked with Defendants to create a highly successful movie franchise. He demands his fair share.”

“Olympus Has Fallen” grossed $170 million globally and spawned sequels “London Has Fallen” and “Angel Has Fallen,” both also starring Butler.

A day before Butler’s suit, Scarlett Johansson filed a lawsuit against the Walt Disney Co. for allegedly breaching her contract by releasing her blockbuster “Black Widow” both in theaters and on the company’s streaming app, Disney Plus.
