Senior guard Bre'Amber Scott is Texas Tech's leading scorer and rebounder this season. She was ejected from a Tech victory Saturday at TCU and subsequently made obscene gestures toward the crowd in Fort Worth.

Lady Raiders coach Krista Gerlich condemned Bre'Amber Scott in a statement Monday, two days after the Texas Tech basketball player made obscene gestures toward the crowd after being ejected in a road game against TCU.

Tech won the game 78-70 at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth.

As Lady Raiders chief of staff Jared Boyd escorted Scott from the court toward the locker room, Scott made the gestures toward the crowd with both hands. Boyd, who had an arm around Scott's waist as they walked, then reached up and clamped her arms to her sides.

"Our program is disappointed with the behavior exhibited by Bre’Amber Scott during the fourth quarter of our win at TCU," Gerlich said in a statement Tech released Monday. "While we understand the emotions of high-intensity competition, there are no grounds for Bre’s poor decision to perform an inappropriate gesture towards the crowd as she exited the court.

"Her actions were in direct conflict with the values and standards that we hold our student-athletes, coaches and staff to here at Texas Tech. We are working with Bre to ensure this is a learning experience moving forward."

Scott, the Lady Raiders' leading scorer in the game with 20 points, was ejected with 2:52 left and Tech leading 66-65. Scott stole the ball from Emily Fisher near the top of the key on the Horned Frogs' end of the court. Then as the TCU guard reached across Scott's body trying to retrieve the ball, Scott elbowed Fisher in the face as she started to dribble away.

Officials assessed a technical foul and ejected Scott. Tech assistant coach Plenette Pierson took Scott by one arm to lead her off the court to a sideline huddle. Then in leaving the huddle to walk off the floor, Scott initially pushed away Boyd.

"I would like to apologize to my teammates, our coaching staff, our fans and our administration for my actions at the end of Saturday’s game," Scott said in a statement Tech released Monday. "This action took away from a great team victory on the road in front of so many of our fans.

"Coach Gerlich and her staff stress the importance of winning with 'pride, passion and purpose,' and my actions last weekend do not represent the core values of our program. I look forward to learning from this experience as we move forward as a team with our season."

When asked if Scott faced other disciplinary action, a Tech athletics spokesman said no additional comment would be made Monday beyond the statements released.

Scott's season averages of 14.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game are team highs. She's a 5-foot-11 senior from Little Rock (Ark.) Central.

The Lady Raiders (13-3, 1-2 in the Big 12) host Oklahoma (12-2, 2-1) at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
