German Air Force intercepts Russian military aircraft near Finland
The German Air Force (Luftwaffe) scrambled a Eurofighter jet to intercept a Russian Il-20M military aircraft near Finland on Feb. 26.

The incident occurred after air defense alarms were triggered in the German city of Laage. A Russian Il-20M aircraft flying southeast of Helsinki was detected without a flight plan on file.

The German Air Force scrambled the Eurofighter jet for visual identification.
The Luftwaffe confirmed that the operation ended without further incident after Russian plane was visually identified.
