German authorities: Indications of a plan to attack Cologne cathedral
German security authorities received indications that an Islamist group may have been planning to attack Cologne Cathedral, dpa has learned.
A church in Vienna was also a possible target, according to a report on Saturday.
The police in Cologne and Vienna said earlier on Saturday evening that they were increasing their security measures due to a possible threat.
The group may be connected to the Islamic State Khorasan Province terrorist group, dpa has learned.
Germany's Bild newspaper reported that special units made initial arrests in Vienna and that someone was also arrested in Germany on Saturday.
