If we told you a small street in a tiny town was repaved with chocolate, you'd think it was a scene from the next remake of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. But the chaos that ensued when a storage container leak at the DreiMeister factory caused chocolate to flood a road in Westönnen, Germany, earlier this week was real-not Hollywood magic.

When the steady flow of chocolate hit the cold streets, it immediately hardened. Honestly DreiMeister should have called the experts at the Guinness Book of World Records to make a play for the world's longest piece of chocolate bark. Instead, they called the fire department, and brigade of 25 fighters came to clean up. They had to pour warm water on the mess (according to the Associated Press, there were torches involved, too) and shovel it off the streets.

The accident could have been a lot more tragic had it occurred closer to Christmas, company boss Markus Luckey reportedly said. But the residents of Germany and Austria (where DreiMeister ships) can rest assured that they will still have a chocolate-filled holiday, if they so choose.

The Feuerwehr Stadt Werl-aka the district of Werl's fire department-put out a hilariously cheeky release in German that translates to:

Chocolate lovers must remain brave when reading the following lines.

On Monday evening, the Werl fire brigade was alerted to a really unusual use: At just before 20 o'clock, it was reported that at the company Dreimeister, specialties in Westönnen liquid chocolate had leaked and had poured over the West Street.

"A chocolate tank in the building had overflowed. About a ton of chocolate ran out into the yard and from there onto the street," reported a spokesman for the Werl fire brigade. On the street, which had to be closed until about 10 pm, a ten-square-meter choco-pancake formed.

This was a traffic hazard, which made the use of the fire department necessary. The forces eliminated the sweet danger with shovels and muscle power.

A specialist company cleaned the street afterwards. Despite the heartbreaking incident, it is unlikely that a chocolate-free Christmas is imminent in Werl.

Phew, huh?
