German government greenlights supply of Gepard guns to Ukraine

KMW has, in its warehouses, several dozen Gepard units from disbanded air defense units of the Bundeswehr ground forces.

These systems can be used to hit ground and air targets, in conjunction with other types of military equipment.

The Minister of Defense of Germany, Christine Lambrecht, also announced the supply of Gepard SPAAGs during a meeting of the partner countries’ military departments on assistance to Ukraine, which is taking place at the Ramstein airbase in western Germany.

The day before, the Federal Government announced that "in the near future" it will decide whether or not to supply Ukraine with 100 Marder infantry fighting vehicles.

Moreover, German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall intends to sell 88 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine, and has already appealed for permission to do so to the German government.
