Jona "Reptile" Fritz, a German League of Legends pro playing for Fnatic TQ, has been dropped from his team after he had reportedly accidentally revealed an alternative account that was named after Adolf Hitler.

The announcement was made by the organisation on Monday morning (17 July).

“Today’s event on this stream demonstrate that he [Reptile] doesn’t represent at all the values of both Team Queso and Fnatic,” the statement read.

They also said that Reptile “did not meet the criteria of exemplarity of either entities”.

In a clip widely shared on Twitter before they were taken down, Reptile accidentally revealed his 'Hitler' smurf account while searching for an account that had a Draven skin he wanted.

During his stream, the German player was seen looking for the Draven skin he wanted.

This, unfortunately, took him to one of his smurf accounts named "HITLER199", which was quite visible on the top right of the player's screen.

Reptile quickly realised his error and closed it down, cursing and saying, “That is the incorrect account. Oh, no way."

Although he was quick to close the League of Legends client, it was visible long enough for viewers to notice the account's name.

League of Legends usually detects offensive names, but this specific account was named with non-alphanumeric characters that look like letters and bypassed automatic checks.

Reptile responds to the incident

The German player tweeted to address the incident soon after Fnatic TQ dropped him from their roster.

Posting screenshots of a now hidden tweet by a player named “Scriptless,” Reptile said that he was sharing the said account with a friend.

In the screenshot, Scriptless said they renamed the account half a year ago as a joke related to a meme “without realising the consequences this could have” for Reptile.

Reptile also shared a screenshot of the name change history, showing that the account was renamed around five months ago, in February.

“While I am taking full responsibility in sharing the account, this was around half a year ago when the name change also happened,” he said.

“My values were always sharing my knowledge and trying to help everyone around the world,” he added. The former Fnatic TQ AD Carry also said that he “didn’t mean to cause harm” as he was “fully unaware” that the account was renamed like so.

He went on also apologised to his team and his fans and friends, saying that it was “obviously an unacceptable name.”

“Again, I am terribly at fault, and I have to accept the consequences. Thank you all for reading, and I hope the people I hurt will be able to forgive me.”

On top of the offensive name, Reptile is also guilty of violating one of Riot’s rules on account sharing. In Riot’s terms of service, the company requires players to agree that they “can’t share [their] account or Login Credentials with anyone.”

The German player also announced in a follow-up tweet that he is taking streamer Michael "Veteran" Archer’s advice and will stream later on, with proceeds going to “charity related with genocide”.

Reptile has been a League of Legends pro since 2020 and joined Fnatic TQ in May 2023, where he was the team’s AD Carry. He’s also a well-known streamer that shares AD Carry guides, tier lists, matchups, and others.

Fnatic TQ is a team formed by European juggernauts Fnatic and Spanish organisation Team Queso that is currently competing in Spain’s premier League, the LVP Superliga Summer Split. The team has a 4-12 record heading into the final week of the regular season, putting them in a tie for last place.
