Germany's Nordic combined star Fabian Rießle, who won team Olympic gold and three world championship titles, will hang up his skis after the home World Cup event in Schonach on January 28.

"I'm looking forward to celebrating my retirement with you all," the 33-year-old wrote on Instagram.

He made his World Cup debut at the same venue in January 2009.

Rießle won team gold at the Pyeongchang Winter Games in 2018 along with Eric Frenzel, Vinzenz Geiger and Johannes Rydzek.

He has struggled for form this season.
