Gerrit Cole’s fastball is getting pounded by his standards, and the Yankees are trying to get to the bottom of it

Aaron Boone knows Gerrit Cole is searching for answers. The Yankees’ ace is frustrated and trying to figure out a reason for why he has gotten hit hard the last two starts.

After Monday night Cole implied that he may have been tipping his pitches. The Yankees manager, however, said that is something that the team is on top of.

“I’d like to think we’re as vigilant as it comes with that kind of stuff. So I’m not going to get too far into that, but that’s something that we’re always trying to stay on top of with all our pitchers with all our pitchers at the alternate site,” Boone said before Tuesday night’s game. “We’re trying to look for things that need to be cleaned up at different time. So that’s something that we talk about all the time.”

A scout watching Cole last night said that he did not pick up any tells on the right-hander’s delivery from the television.
