Gervonta Davis sentenced years after crash

Baltimore native world boxing champion Gervonta "Tank" Davis will not face jail time. Davis, 28, was sentenced Friday on charges to which he pleaded guilty in February stemming from his involvement in a November 2020 hit-and-run crash that left four people injured, including a pregnant woman. Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Althea Handy sentenced Davis to a suspended prison term and 90 days of home detention. The judge said the sentence is to be served in Baltimore City because Davis must attend a Mothers Against Drunk Driving panel and the Shock Trauma program and perform 200 hours of community service -- "not in boxing." Additionally, Davis must serve three years of supervised probation.
