Gese isn't the best leader for Sheriff's Office

After seeing all the repeated statements about 30-plus years of experience regarding Sheriff John Gese, his actual leadership experience does not exist. While no deputy will openly discuss the issue in public, for fear of reprisal, our friends in the office are discussing it in private.

The truth about John is that he is a really nice guy, however, he lacks some of the basic leadership qualities that we need at times like this. While I did give John a chance after he was picked by the commissioners to be the next sheriff for his 1-plus-year job interview, my heart was set on Brandon Myers as he is superb with the community and demonstrated so in his interviews. He was the choice we chose for Kitsap County Sheriff, but the “Good Ole’ boy” network stepped in and picked Gese, because experience do the same thing over and over seems to be the solution.

I hate to see Brandon now starting to play politics as well and I hope he thinks long and hard about the people of Kitsap County and not a party line.

Rick Kuss and Brandon Meyer seem to have a lot of overlapping qualities, especially regarding concern for the community. The best situation all Kitsap County residents can hope for is for Rick Kuss to get elected and have Brandon Myers appointed to his team. John is still a great asset to have, and I hope they can find a way for him to continue managing at the Sheriff’s Office following Rick’s leadership.
