Madison Gesiotto Gilbert, a Donald Trump-endorsed Republican who lost her race for Ohio's 13th Congressional District in November, has taken a news job as national spokesperson for the GOP.

It's wasn't immediately clear if she plans to give up on another run for Congress, but one of her social media accounts no longer lists her as a candidate.

Gesiotto Gilbert had been campaign fundraising this year, but her website Friday was no longer accepting donations or allowing people to buy merchandise.

Bryan Williams, who lead's Summit County's GOP, said Friday he didn't know what Gesiotto Gilbert's future election plans may hold.

Gesiotto Gilbert celebrated the end of her first week in the new GOP role on X, the former Twitter, on Friday by saying she was "honored to be part of the team that will #BeatBiden and ensure victory for Republicans in 2024."

In her new role with the national GOP, Gesiotto Gilbert will almost certainly have to deal with the media.

As a candidate running against Democrat Emilia Sykes, Gesiotto Gilbert declined to be interviewed by reporters from local newspapers, including The Beacon Journal and The Plain Dealer. She chose instead to only answer questions by email.

Gesiotto Gilbert, a lawyer, is a former Miss Ohio and competitive figure skater who served as a press secretary during Trump's 2016 presidential inauguration. She remained close to the former president after he lost his race, defending him on mostly right-leaning television programs.

Trump endorsed her campaign in March 2022 to help her win the Republican primary, but she lost to Sykes by more than 5% in November.

In addition to her work for the GOP, Gesiotto Gilbert owned and operated the Seven Hills Golf Club in Hartville with her husband, Marcus Gilbert, a retired NFL player. The course closed this year and the property is listed for sale for $4.3 million.
