Ghosts, brunch and JK, we're serious: See the latest restaurant openings in OKC

Oklahoma City seems to be in a constant state of growth and flux. From new apartment buildings to roads, retail complexes and of course, restaurants.

One of the most anticipated recently announced restaurants is Big Biang Theory, coming to its brick and mortar location later this year. No official opening date has been set yet — just a loose promise of October — but while we wait for more details, there are a number of other new places that are set to open or that have recently started serving guests around town.

"We're very affordable. We'll have wine for $10-12. We'll have appetizers for $10-12," Dey said. "It looks gorgeous like this, it looks fine dining, the food is fine dining — everything we are trying to do fine dining — but the price will be very affordable."

With house cocktails meant to be photographed, including the Hibiscus Royale, "Instagram" Martini (set to be custom-printed with patron's faces or messaging) and Lychee Margarita, and interior design that blends rich textures and vibrant colors with a bit of whimsy in the form of a giant wisteria tree in the middle of the restaurant, JK is sure to become hit for girls' nights and dinner dates alike.

The business partners chose to build their restaurant in Oklahoma City after mulling over the idea of putting down roots in Dallas instead.

"We were supposed to open it in Dallas, but for various reasons, the most important was the fact that King is living much closer to Oklahoma," Balan said. "Number two was rent, much better rent here than Dallas."

The food at JK blends elements of Dey's classical French training with his love of Asian cuisine, bringing items like tempura rock shrimp, sous vide lobster "tacos," tempura softshell crab, miso eggplant and oxtail bone marrow fried rice to the menu.

"I always liked the French technique, the European technique, but when I learned Asian cuisine, I learned how to use their influence into that cuisine," Dey said. "You will see a lot of dishes like that, we'll have foie gras on the menu, we'll have caviar on the menu, but it's all something with Asian influence there."
