Ghosts, ghouls, goblins invade southwest Georgia

Oct. 30—ALBANY — After counting down the days to the big night, southwest Georgia kids will be out in force Monday night, celebrating Halloween.

While educated grown-ups and other would-be scholars can extol for days about the meanings and the symbolism of the holiday, kids just know that it's the night to collect free candy.

These kids got a jump on Halloween Saturday at Chehaw Park & Zoo's "Boo at the Zoo," while others made their way to the Allen family's home on East Doublegate Drive. The Allens will be handing out sweet treats — and toys for parents who don't want their kids to partake — through Halloween night.
