Giada de Laurentiis really does it all. She's a television personality, has her own cookware line, and has published multiple books. Still, despite being a seasoned vet of all things cooking, she was nervous when serving Kate Middleton and Prince William back in 2011.

The chef recently spoke with INSIDER about her anxiety leading up to the polo charity event in Santa Barbara, CA, where it happened. Giana had apparently signed up to cater the event before she knew the royals would be there, and when she found out, she had to keep quiet about the big news. "I had no idea the royal couple would be attending," she said on the The Today Show. "And when I finally found out, it was actually kind of a bummer. I couldn't tell anyone—I had to keep it hush-hush until their California itinerary was released."

Giada recalled being nervous but mostly excited because she and her daughter had been obsessively following Kate and Will's wedding together, she told INSIDER: "I'm not usually star-struck, but I'll admit I was pretty anxious meeting them," Giana said. "It was nerve-wracking cooking a meal for actual royalty, but I kept reminding myself that I was in my element."

Most importantly, what did she cook for the royal pair? She took inspiration from her Italian roots and from California, since at the time, it was Kate and William's first visit to the state. She used "fresh, organic ingredients" and made the dishes "very colorful" since it was a summer event. She served pea pesto crostini, a California chopped salad, and chicken milanese.

Sounds royally delicious! Sorry. Bye.
