Giants' Carlos Rodon apologizes for kicking bat into Thairo Estrada vs. Diamondbacks

During the Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Francisco Giants game Tuesday night, cameras caught Giants pitcher Carlos Rodon taking out his frustration in the San Francisco dugout by kicking a bat.

The bat then went on to hit Rodon's teammate, Thairo Estrada.

You can see the moment in the video tweeted out by NBC Sports Bay Area.

After the game, Rodon apologized for the incident, calling his kick off the bat a "selfish action."

"Hit my teammate, probably the nicest teammate on the team. Just a selfish action that is unacceptable and cannot happen and I take all [responsibility]," Rodon said. "I take every amount of it. That cannot happen, I just feel stupid, really stupid."

"Just angry," he added. "Angry with myself. I made a selfish action and kicked a bat that had no reason to be kicked, the bat didn't do nothing, Thairo didn't do nothing. If anything, I should be hitting myself. Stupid."

Giants manager Gabe Kapler addressed the incident after the game, telling reporters:

"He feels terrible about it, obviously," Kapler said. "You saw that right away that he felt remorse about it. He knows it's unacceptable. We talked about it after the game, it just can't happen. It doesn't matter if it's Thairo or anybody else, these are his teammates and if he's not able to maintain control in those situations, somebody could get hurt. He knows it, we're working on it. We're going to work on ways to be in control in those situations.

"That doesn't mean he won't show emotion, that's totally fine, that's part of the game and being angry about an outing or a specific event in an outing, totally fine. But when teammates and coaches are at risk, it just can't happen. We discussed it, we're going to work through it and we're going to support him through it and as I mentioned, he's fully accountable and understands that it can't happen."
