The New York Giants were given every imaginable opportunity to win on Thursday night at FedEx Field, but they wanted no part of it.

Injuries, dropped passes, missed tackles, penalties, blown assignments… You name it and the Giants pulled it out of a hat.

In the end, New York fell to 0-2 with the 30-29 loss to Washington.

Here’s a look at the winners, losers and those in between from Week 2.

Winners

Sterling Shepard: You can carve out a space for Shepard on this weekly. Probably. Every single thing about his game stands out. He looks like a genuinely elite receiver who is en route to a career year. He hauled in nine of his 10 targets for 94 yards. Graham Gano: Money. The Giants gave it to Gano and he continues to earn it every single week. He connected on all five of his field goal attempts and both of his point after attempts. Daniel Jones: Jones had his best game since his rookie season on Thursday night, and it could have been much better. A few drops cost him big, as did a bogus holding call that cost him a rushing touchdown. He finished with 249 yards passing, 95 yards rushing and two touchdowns. He gave it his all. James Bradberry: After a terrible game in Week 1, Bradberry followed it up with another bad game on Thursday night. He was turned inside out by Terry McLaurin and his slide should be a tremendous concern. He did have an impressive fourth quarter interception to redeem himself a bit, but the hole had already been dug. Kadarius Toney: The rookie didn't see many snaps on Thursday night and that apparently didn't sit well. He got into a heated exchange with Joe Judge on the sideline and was visibly angry after the fact. Dexter Lawrence: An offsides penalty on a missed field goal breathed new life into Washington and they took advantage. Big Dex was relatively quiet all game but made his presence felt at the worst possible time. Pass rush: Completely nonexistent without a blitz. NBC: English and Spanish broadcasts ran simultaneously for the first 10 minutes of the game. Referees: The officials were terrible for both sides all night long. There was a missed personal foul on a Daniel Jones hit, a bogus holding penalty on C.J. Board that cost New York a touchdown and an obvious missed call (and review) on a Washington first down. Others: Keion Crossen, Leonard Williams

Saquon Barkley: Barkley broke off an explosive 41-yard run in the first half and hauled in a couple receptions. He also had a drop and did little else with his carries. It was a boom or bust kind of night for Saquon, which is the knock on him. Azeez Ojulari: The rookie recorded his second career sack early on in the game and then fell completely silent for the remainder of the game. Andrew Thomas: On a night when the O-Line lost Nick Gates and played to inconsistent (but better than expected) results, Thomas again looked solid. Not perfect (a few mistakes run blocking), but substantially improved from a season ago. His late false start moved him down from the winners category, though. Darius Slayton: Slayton, like Thomas, was in the winners category initially. A late fourth quarter drop that cost the Giants a touchdown moved him down here. Brutal drop. He had a chance to redeem himself later on but couldn't keep his feet in bounds. Others: Logan Ryan, Adoree' Jackson
