Giants injury report: Adrian Colbert doubtful vs. 49ers

The New York Giants took the field for their final full practice ahead of a Week 3 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers and other than the obvious missing pieces, appeared relatively healthy.

Most active players were participating in practice, including rookie linebacker Carter Coughlin (hamstring) and safeties Sean Chandler (hamstring) and Adrian Colbert (quad).

“He’s a young player, so we’re trying to look at him in a couple different positions. Obviously, he has roles for us in the kicking game. He played mostly outside linebacker through camp,” head coach Joe Judge said of Coughlin. “There were some discussions early in training camp about looking at him inside. We’ve had the opportunity to do that the last few weeks. He’s made some progress there. The more versatility he has playing inside and outside really adds to our depth at the games.”

Coughlin and Chandler finished the week strong, fully participating on both Thursday and Friday, while Colbert remained limited.

That is in stark contrast to the 49ers, who are completely riddled with injury and officially ruled quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle), running backs Tevin Coleman (knee) and Raheem Mostert (knee), and defensive end Dee Ford (back) out before even taking the field for their final practice of the week.

Tight end George Kittle (knee) has also been ruled out.

Officially, the Giants have ruled Colbert as doubtful and defensive back Brandon Williams (groin), who was a Friday addition to the injury report, as questionable.

Neither Chandler nor Coughlin received a designation.
