While the New York Giants had a couple of days to feel good about their win over the Carolina Panthers, the injury bug hit them again and has taken out a defensive captain.

The Giants are placing safety Jabrill Peppers on season-ending injured reserve with a high ankle sprain and a rupture in his ACL.

With Peppers set to hit free agency after the 2021 season, he may have very well played in his last game for the Giants. Peppers was a name that came up as a possible trade target given the fact that his contract was set to expire and he “wanted to win,” but with the injury, he won’t be traded anywhere.

Peppers was acquired back in March of 2019 in the infamous Odell Beckham Jr trade with the Cleveland Browns and has spent the last three seasons with the Giants.

In six games this season, Peppers had 30 total tackles with a sack.

Peppers is the second main starter for the Giants lost for the season; middle linebacker Blake Martinez is also on season-ending injured reserve after he tore his ACL last month.
