Giants sign Brandon Williams and KeiVarae Russell, waive Christian Angulo and Javon Leake

The Giants signed corners Brandon WIlliams and KeiVarae Russell on Saturday and waived the undrafted rookie pair of corner Christian Angulo and running back Javon Leake.

Both Williams, 27, and Russell, 26, completed the in-take process of the Giants’ COVID-19 protocol this week. Then Williams passed a physical and Russell worked out on Thursday, preceding their official signings Saturday.

Neither player is expected to solve the Giants’ problem at outside corner, but Williams should become a factor on special teams. Russell can run and might compete at outside corner but may be more valuable on special teams, as well.

Neither player played in an NFL game in 2019. Williams, a former Cardinals 2016 third-round pick, sat on Arizona’s injured reserve list with a shoulder injury. Russell, a former Bengal and a Chiefs 2016 third-rounder, had a cup of coffee on last year’s Chargers’ practice squad.
