Gibsonburg senior running back Connor Smith was announced offensive player of the year in the state in Division VII by the Ohio Sportswriters Association.

He rushed for 3,432 yards, fourth all-time in Ohio for a single season. He had 48 touchdowns, including one reception, to tie for 13th and 47 on the ground are sixth for a season.

His 98 career rushing touchdowns tie him for 12th. He finished with 6,928 yards on the ground, 14th all-time in the state.

His 100 career touchdowns, including two receptions, are tied for 15th. He finished in the top 20 in points for a season and career.

Senior linemen Martin Myerholtz and Cam Waugaman played key roles creating lanes and space for Smith in Joe Wyant's wing-T for the Golden Bears. Myerholtz was first-team all-state and Waugaman honorable mention.

Margaretta senior running back Jake Boggs and junior lineman Dylan Gibson were conductors for the latest installment of Gary Quisno's wing-T. Each was a second-team pick.

Polar Bears senior linebacker JT Patrick was third-team.
