Gigi Hadid speaks out following cannabis detainment

Gigi Hadid's representative has released a statement following the model's arrest and fine over cannabis possession while on holiday.
The star was travelling to the Cayman Islands via private jet on July 10, and according to reports when her luggage was scanned at Owen Roberts International Airport, a Customs and Border Control Officer allegedly found a small amount of ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja in her bag.
Hadid was reportedly arrested alongside a friend on suspicion of "Importation of Ganja and Importation of Utensils used for the consumption of ganja", according to Cayman Marl Road.

They were released on bail after being taken to a detention center, and on July 12 appeared in summary court, where they pleaded guilty and were each fined $1,000 Cayman Island dollars, while no conviction was recorded.
A representative for Hadid has since shared a statement, that reads: "Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a medical license.
"It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island."

The model has since posted pictures from her holiday on her Instagram page, with a recent post captioned: "All’s well that ends well".
Meanwhile, Hadid welcomed a baby with former partner Zayn Malik in 2020, a daughter called Khai, the model saying at the time: "Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she's already changed our world. So in love!"
Last year, it was confirmed that she would be joining Queer Eye star Tan France in the previously-cancelled Netflix series Next in Fashion, taking over as co-host from Alexa Chung.
