Gigi Hadid Walked the Marc Jacobs Show Barefoot After Breaking A Heel
The signs of a good model are the clearest when something goes wrong. For Gigi Hadid, a broken heel wasn’t going to stop her from strutting it on the runway during Marc Jacobs’ fashion show earlier this week. The model walked barefoot during the show on Wednesday, which many attendees assumed was intentional. Stylist Katie Grand revealed on Instagram that the barefoot walking was definitely not on purpose.

“Now there is a little story to go with this clip,” she wrote. “In the first opening ‘finale’ of Marc's show Gigi’s heel broke - if you see images from the first passage she has thigh high silver socks and white leather mules, and since we were at the other end of the armory there wasn’t much we could do other than either fake a non broken heel or rip off her socks and shoes and send her out barefoot, which we did, and was all the more natural for it.”
Grand thanked Hadid for her ability to roll with the punches during the usual backstage chaos, adding, “Gigi and all the people from the show thank you all so much for being so patient, beautiful and inspiring and also Stephen Galloway for your fantastic choreography.”
Now that New York Fashion Week is officially over, it’s off to London, where hopefully all of Hadid’s shoes will stay on. If not, though, she knows what to do.
