Gio Reyna is set to make his return to the U.S. men's national team next week for the first time since the FIFA World Cup and his dramatic fallout with coach Gregg Berhalter, as the U.S. approaches the final round of the Concacaf Nations League group stage.

However, midfield talisman and captain Tyler Adams will not join the U.S. due to a hamstring injury suffered at Leeds United in England.

The U.S. will conclude the Group D play with games on March 24 at Grenada and March 27 against El Salvador at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida (6:30 p.m.). Both matches will be broadcasted on TNT (English), as well as Universo and Peacock (Spanish).

The USMNT can score a spot in the Nations League semifinals by winning the group, which will automatically qualify the U.S. for the Gold Cup in June. The U.S. (1-0-1, 4 points) trails El Salvador (1-0-2, 5 points) in Group D standings with a game in hand.

Interim coach Anthony Hudson spoke about Reyna's inclusion, electing to focus on Reyna's on-field form, rather than off-the-field dissension between his family and the Berhalter's. Reyna has scored five goals for Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga this season.

"Clearly it became a bit more complex in the months since the World Cup, but as far as we’re concerned Gio is a part of our program," Hudson said in an interview with U.S. Soccer. "He’s a good guy and a top talent and he is evaluated like any other player. We made the roster decisions based on what gives the team the best opportunity to win these games, and we brought him in because we think he can help us do that."

Here's a breakdown of the roster and what to know:

West Brom striker Daryl Dike could get his first USMNT appearance since the 2021 Gold Cup semifinal against Qatar, after a slew of thigh and hamstring problems sidelined the former Orlando City forward in 2022-23.

Atlanta United center back Miles Robinson returns to the USMNT camp after rupturing his Achilles tendon in May 2022. The 26-year-old was a projected starter for the U.S. at the World Cup before the season-ending injury.

Tyler Adams

Adams suffered a hamstring injury in training at Leeds and has been ruled out for the USMNT's Nations League games, as well as his club's next game against the Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Premier League.

Potential debuts

The 24-year-old Philadelphia Union youth academy graduate Auston Trusty now applies his trade at Birmingham City in the English Championship. He's been called up to January camps in 2021 and 2022 but has not appeared for the senior national team.

Utrecht's Taylor Booth grew up in the Real Salt Lake academy before jumping to Europe. The 21-year-old has two goals and three assists in the Dutch Eredivisie.
