Many celebrities slim down in the blink of an eye after giving birth, so it’s always refreshing to hear from the famous mums who aren’t bothered about shedding the baby weight - or find it harder to regain their pre-pregnancy shape than others.

Enter Giovanna Fletcher. The 31-year-old, who gave birth to her second child with McBusted singer Tom Fletcher two weeks ago, has taken to Instagram to get real about the pressures on women to lose weight following the birth of their child.

Posting a black and white selfie of her baby bump, while dressed down in a comfy T-shirt and jogging trousers, the mum-of-two took the opportunity to recount a story of a woman who suggested she should already have bounced back to her pre-baby figure.

To reiterate, Giovanna only gave birth two weeks ago.

“A few days ago I had a near stranger point at my stomach, laugh and say ‘Oh look, Mummy’s still got her tummy’. This was eleven days after giving birth. I was so shocked I laughed,” she wrote.

“But the words have stuck with me. Obviously. It wasn’t left there either as there was another comment about my face 'slimming down’. More than anything, I was baffled over the stranger’s need to share her thoughts…

“Yes, I still have a bump. But that bump kept my little baby boy safe for a whole nine months. That bump has filled my world with even more love and light than I knew possible. That bump is a miracle worker… My bump will slowly go over time, but I’ll never stop being thankful to it and my body for everything it’s given me.“

The star’s post, which was only uploaded an hour ago, has clearly struck a chord with mums that can relate to her experience.

Thousands of Giovanna’s followers have liked the post and over 900 have left supportive comments - with many explaining that they’ve experienced similar run-ins with so-called friends.

"At 11 days if you had a FLAT stomach I would be worried,” commented one Instagram user. “Your womb has grown to hold a BABY, placenta and water over 9 months. Of course it takes time to SHRINK back. Comments HURT, even when they are from idiotic, uneducated strangers. Accept their IGNORANCE, move on and enjoy your tummy. It GREW a baby. What’s more amazing than that!?”
