Giraffe calf Kendi makes Indianapolis Zoo debut

A video shared on social media showed Kendi venturing outside for the first time with the herd, and exploring the habitat within the zoo enclosure.

The male giraffe calf was born to first-time mother Kita on November 8.

According to the zoo, giraffes are native to Sub-Saharan Africa and are sensitive to wet and cold weather. The animal care team at the Indianapolis Zoo said it would assess daily conditions and the herd would only be let outside when the weather permitted.
