Girls basketball roundup: Eaton Rapids edges Olivet in OT, Holt, Haslett among winners

WEDNESDAY’S SEMIFINALS

EATON RAPIDS 56, OLIVET 51 (OT)

CHARLOTTE -- With 12 seconds to go in regulation, Sofia Kingsley hit a game-tying 3 to force overtime and Adi Sysum went 4 of 4 from the free-throw line to ice the game for the Greyhounds in a tight district semifinal win over Olivet. Kingsley led all scorers with 23 points and three steals, Sysum notched 22 points and 10 rebounds and Trinity Tupper tallied eight points, six rebounds, five assists and four blocks for Eaton Rapids. Peyton Otto scored a team-high 19 points, Drue Allen picked up 14 points and Olivea Gessner chipped in eight points for the Eagles (13-8). The Greyhounds (10-10) move on to the district final to face Marshall (15-6) at 7 p.m. on Friday at Charlotte.

HOLT 37, MASON 27

MASON -- Kaylin Howard scored a game-high 13 points as Holt notched a district semifinal victory over Mason. Allison Metzger tacked on eight points for Holt. Grace O’Berry finished with a team-high seven points and Ashlynn Putman added six points for the Bulldogs (5-16). The Rams (12-7) will head to the district finals to take on Parma Western (20-1) at 7 p.m. on Friday at Mason.

LANSING CATHOLIC 54, LAKEWOOD 22

IONIA -- Anna Richards finished with a game-high 22 points, scoring 15 in the fourth quarter, as the Cougars move on to the district finals with a win over Lakewood. Leah Richards picked up seven points and grabbed nine rebounds and Hannah Pricco tallied seven rebounds and six steals for Lansing Catholic. Maradith O’Gorman scored a team-high 10 points for the Vikings. The Cougars (19-2) will take on CAAC White rival Portland (20-1) for the district title at 7 p.m. on Friday at Ionia.

PORTLAND 57, HASTINGS 26

IONIA -- Ashley Bower led the Raiders with a team-high 21 points as Portland clinched a spot in the district final with a semifinal win over Hastings (13-9). Alivia Densmore picked up 11 points and Ava Guilford and Breckyn Werner each tacked on eight points for Portland. The Raiders (20-1) move on to face CAAC White rival Lansing Catholic (19-2) for the district title at 7 p.m. on Friday at Ionia.

HASLETT 39, ST. JOHNS 17

HASLETT -- Grace Isenhath finished with a game-high 19 points to help lead the Vikings to clinch a spot in the district final with a victory over St. Johns. Ellie Humble added eight points for Haslett. Lexi Maloney scored a team-high four points for the Redwings (6-16). The Vikings (16-4) will face East Lansing (16-4) in the district final at 7 p.m. Friday.

WILLIAMSTON 57, WIXOM ST. CATHERINE 34

STOCKBRIDGE -- Isabel Lindo had a team-high 14 points, five rebounds and three assists as Williamston advances to the district final with a victory over Wixom St. Catherine (16-4). Reese Gaytan finished with nine points and six rebounds, Sammi Schultz tallied nine points and Kaley Douglass picked up seven points, five rebounds, five assists and two blocks for Williamston. The Hornets (16-6) head to the district final and will play Ann Arbor Father Gabriel Richard (15-6) at 7 p.m. Friday at Stockbridge.

BATH 38, POTTERVILLE 32

BATH -- The Bees got off to a fast start with an 11-4 run in the first quarter en route to a district semifinal win over Potterville. Aubrie Schaibly scored a team-high 17 points, Sophia Westphal notched 14 points and six rebounds and Kassi Buck tallied four rebounds, four assists and three steals for Bath. Darby Lienerth led all scorers with 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Kaylee Bush tacked on nine points for the Vikings (10-12). The Bees (10-11) will face Dansville (14-7) in the district final at 7 p.m. Friday.

DANSVILLE 49, LAINGSBURG 40

BATH -- Kourtney Mack had 18 points to lead the Aggies in their Division 3 district semifinal win. Erin Sherwood added 12 points and Megan Zeitz scored 11 for Dansville. Ellie Baynes had 14 points and Bell Strieff added 10 points to lead Laingsburg.

OVID-ELSIE 34, FLINT HAMADY 32

ELSIE -- Caitlyn Walter finished with a team-high 10 points and three steals to help the Marauders hold off Flint Hamady (11-8) for a spot in the district final. Evalyn Cole picked up nine points and dished out three assists, Hailee Campbell tacked on seven points and Ava Bates hauled in 10 rebounds for Ovid-Elsie (19-1). The Marauders will take on Chesaning (16-5) in the district final at 7 p.m. on Friday at Ovid-Elsie.

PORTLAND ST. PATRICK 65, LANSING CHRISTIAN 38

LANSING -- Lydia Meredith became the only player in school history to surpass 1,000 career points and 400 steals as the Division 4 top-ranked Shamrocks secured a district semifinal win over Lansing Christian. Lydia Meredith tallied 18 points, seven rebounds and seven steals. Mara Schrauben picked up 13 points, Natalie Teachworth chipped in 11 points and Laynie Meredith notched nine points, six assists and three steals for Portland St. Patrick. Mia Judd scored a team-high 16 points and Ellianna Gaines added 14 points for the Pilgrims (12-10). The Shamrocks (21-0) head to the district finals to take on Fowler at 7 p.m. Friday at Lansing Christian.

FOWLER 63, MORRICE 19

LANSING -- Emma Riley led all scorers with 16 points to help the Eagles secure a district semifinal win over Morrice. Mia Riley scored 13 points and Avery Koenigsknecht added on 10 points for Fowler. Aubrey Rogers tallied nine points and hauled in five rebounds for the Orioles (12-6). The Eagles (18-3) will take on Portland St. Patrick (21-0) for the district title at 7 p.m. on Friday at Lansing Christian.

PEWAMO-WESTPHALIA 43, GRAND RAPIDS NORTHPOINTE CHRISTIAN 23

CARSON CITY -- A 13-4 run in the second quarter helped push the Pirates into the district final with a semifinal win over Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian (9-12). Sierra Schneider led all scorers with 16 points and Brooke Kramer tacked on 14 points for Pewamo-Westphalia. The Pirates (13-8) will face Saranac (8-13) in the district final at 7 p.m. on Friday at Carson City-Crystal.

LESLIE 50, HOMER 44

HOMER -- Emma Smieska notched a team-high 21 points to help guide the Blackhawks to a district semifinal victory over Homer (9-12). Ella Locke scored 11 points and Rylie Burley added on eight points for Leslie. The Blackhawks (19-2) move on to the district final and take on Springport (16-5) at 7 p.m. Friday at Homer.
