DEMING – Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest held a successful Cookie Kick-Off Party last week to introduce a new Girl Scout Cookie line and learn more about the benefits of scouting in Deming. The party was held at the Deming Scout Hut located at 721 S. Granite St. at the Scout Park.

According to the GSDSW website, there are three GSA Troops in Deming for girls ranging in grades K-5.

Scouts were treated to a cookie tasting for the new Adventureful Cookie; a brownie inspired treat with a caramel filling along with sea salt. Adventureful has been added to the lineup of GSA cookie favorites.

Scouts were also inspired to make a cookie nametag as a fun activity.

The annual Girl Scouts Cookie Campaign teaches girls about decision making, goal setting, people skills, money management and business ethics.

Girls Scout Cookies will go on sale for direct sale on January 23, 2022.

According to the GSDSW webpage, Girl Scouts follow their own lead, no matter their age. From selecting the badges they’ll pursue to how they’ll organize an activity, Girl Scouts have the chance to follow their dreams and grow their skills—and the confidence that comes with that.

Hands-on activities are fun for Girl Scouts of any age, but they also help them feel empowered to shape their own experience. Girl Scouts unlock their “I got this” attitude as they discover they can always dust themselves off and try again when things don’t go according to plan.

There is power in having a tight-knit group of friends who will learn with you, grow with you, and always cheer you on. Girl Scouts see firsthand that teamwork, respect, and collaboration can fuel them through any challenge that comes their way.
