Girls basketball: 2022 Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament bracket, scores, schedule

The Sparta girls basketball team will have the inside track to defending the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex crown it won in 2020 — the last year the tournament was contested.

With a 9-3 record against high-caliber competition, the Spartans received the top seed in the tri-county tournament when the bracket was announced on Wednesday afternoon. Crosstown rivals Pope John received the No. 2 seed and the other double bye into the quarterfinals.

The tournament is set to get underway this weekend with the preliminary round. The first three rounds, including the quarterfinals, will be played on the home court of the higher seed.

Voorhees, Warren Hills, South Hunterdon, Kittatinny, North Hunterdon and Phillipsburg all received top-eight seeds and byes into the second round.

The semifinals are scheduled for noon and 1:45 p.m. on Feb. 19 at Wallkill Valley High School, and the championship game will be played at 7 p.m. on Feb. 26 at Centenary University.
