Girls Basketball: Florence-Henry outlasts Estelline-Hendricks in overtime

ESTELLINE — Florence-Henry used a 7-2 scoring spurt in overtime to turn back Estelline-Hendricks 44-39 in a non-conference girls basketball game on Thursday.

The Falcons improved to 9-1. Estelline-Hendricks slipped to 6-8.

Caylin Kelly’s 13 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three steals led Florence-Henry. Taylor Watson added 12 points, four steals and three assists and Trinity Watson nine points.

Kenzy Beare scored 14 points, Kate Wegner 11 and Sadie Johnson eight for the Redhawks.

Arlington 70, Lake Preston 29 — Hadley Carlson notched 24 points, seven rebounds, six steals and four assists to guide Arlington (8-3, 5-2) to the Dakota Valley Conference win.

Addalyn Steffensen contributed 13 points and Grace Parry and Harley Johnson each seven. Johnson also had eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Hadlee Holt’s 13 points and 10 rebounds led the Divers (5-7, -6). Faith Steffensen and Marissa Rober each scored six points. Steffensen also grabbed 10 rebounds.

De Smet 48, Castlewood 45 — Kennadi Buchholz’s 17 points and Emma Albrecht’s 12 led the fifth-rated Class B Bulldogs to the win, which counted in both the Dakota Valley and Lake Central Conferences. Jada Burke and Alyssa Asleson each added six points.

De Smet improved to 11-1 overall, 6-0 in the DVC and 2-1 in the LCC. Castlewood fell to 7-3, 2-2 and 2-2.

Maddie Horn tallied 22 points and Mackenzie Everson 14 for the Warriors.

Aberdeen Roncalli 63, Webster Area 25 — Top-rated Class B Roncalli improved to 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the Northeast Conference with the win.

Olivia Hanson and Morgan Fiedler each produced 13 points, Madelyn Bragg nine and Ava Hanson eight for the Cavs. Olivia Hanson also collected nine rebounds.

Jaiden Bauer had seven points, Paige Snell six points and six rebounds and Alivia Baumgarn five rebounds for Webster Area (3-7, 1-5).

Groton Area 50, Clark-Willow Lake 44 — Groton Area (6-5, 3-3) took the Northeast Conference game behind Grace Traphagen’s 16 points and Allyssa Locke’s 12. Brooke Gengerke chipped in with eight.

The Cyclones (2-7, 1-2) got 16 points from Alicia Vig, eight from Kayla Jordan, seven from Musonda Kabwe and five each from Maggie Hovde and Tehya Vig.

Colman-Egan 51, Elkton-Lake Benton 41 — Lanie Mousel scored 16 points and Mackenzie Hemmer 14 to lead the Hawks (10-2, 4-0) to the Dakota Valley Conference win.

Tevan Erickson had 11 points, Rachael Krog 10 and Kylie Ramlo eight to go with nine rebounds for the Elks (3-8, 2-4).

Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 38, Canby 34 — KMS won the Minnesota Camden Conference game to improve to 5-10 overall and 3-7.

Kortney Leppke finished with 10 points and Paige Nelson seven for the Lancers (9-7, 4-6). Aidyn Bruns added six points, seven rebounds and five assists and Maya Wente five rebounds.

Aberdeen Christian 52, Waubay-Summit 25 — Third-rated Aberdeen Christian (10-0) won the non-conference game with 10 points apiece from Hannah Miller and Grace Kaiser.

No leaders were reported for Waubay-Summit (5-7).

Other Games — No score or other details were reported for the Tiospa Zina at Warner game. The Redfield at Britton-Hecla (Jan. 31) and Wyndmere-Lidgerwood (N.D.) at Tri-State games were postponed.
