Girls basketball: Henderson County runs away with district opener against Webster County
DIXON, Ky. -- Henderson County used a 28-4 run to win its first Sixth District game of the regular season 63-36 over Webster County on Tuesday.
After the Lady Colonels had opened the game with a 12-2 lead, Webster County (11-7) came back to pull within one at 15-14. The Lady Colonels scored 12 of the last 14 points of the first half and continued their run in the third quarter with 16 unanswered points.
Jarie Thomas led Henderson County (11-4) with 20 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Graci Risley added 11 points behind three 3-pointers.
Hannah Yates hit three 3-pointers to lead Webster County in scoring with nine points.
The Lady Colonels continue district play Friday against Union County (11-9), while Webster County will visit Murray on Friday.
