Girls basketball: Illini West tames Mustangs to win Lady Panther Classic

CAMP POINT, ILL. — Caydee Kirkham scored 19 points and Reagan Reed added 11 points as the Illini West High School girls basketball team rolled to a 45-37 win over Mendon Unity Saturday in the championship game of the Lady Panther Classic.

It was the Chargers' second tournament victory in three weeks.

Rylee Reed added nine points for the Chargers, while Abbie Johnson scored four points and Hallie Ray scored two points.

Kirkham and Rylee Reed were each named to the all-tournament team, along with West Hancock's Lilly Woodworth.

Kirkham was named the Best Defensive Player of the tournament.

Illini West (22-1) hosts West Hancock at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Carthage, Illinois, in the Jerry Logan Shootout.

The Chargers, ranked third in Class 2A, then host second-ranked Quincy Notre Dame in a battle of ranked teams at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Carthage, Illinois.
