Jan. 14—After narrowly defeating Seaside 28-26 in Astoria's Vince Dulcich Memorial Tournament just two weeks earlier, the Marshfield girls basketball team cruised past the Lady Gulls on a neutral court Wednesday night in Toledo, 38-14.

The Pirates scored the first nine points of the game before Seaside battled back to within 11-5 early in the second quarter.

Marshfield ended the first half with a running jump shot from Kate Miles, and Charlie Dea was fouled on a 3-pointer at the buzzer to end the half, and made all three free throws for an 18-7 advantage.

The second half belonged to the Pirates, who outscored the Gulls 20-7 over the final 16 minutes.

Marshfield had seven players in the scoring column, but none in double figures. Miles led with nine points. Lilli Taylor had a team-high seven for Seaside.
