Girls basketball roundup: Almont, Port Huron and PH Northern bounce back

There was another full slate of girls basketball games in the Blue Water Area on Tuesday.

Here are some notable results from the action.

Almont 48, Richmond 22

Grace Koenig scored 16 points to lead the Raiders past the Blue Devils on the road. Lydia LaCavera added 10 points while Grace Johnson chipped in eight for Almont, which improved to 4-7. Richmond dropped to 1-9.

Both teams return to the floor at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders will visit Yale while the Blue Devils will host Armada.

Marine City 66, Sterling Heights 24

Khloe Austin posted a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double to help the Mariners cruise past the Stallions on the road. Jade Blanchard finished with 15 points and eight boards while Josalyn Dietlin added 11 points and five rebounds.

Marine City improved to 11-2 and has won its last three games. The Mariners will travel to St. Clair at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Marysville 61, Warren Fitzgerald 24

The Vikings won their eighth straight game and dominated the Spartans on the road. Raenne Pirie led all scorers with 13 points for Marysville, which improved to 11-2. Ava Grant added 11 while Kaitlyn Cain and Kara Miller each finished with eight points.

Up next for the Vikings is a road game against Roseville at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Port Huron 49, Utica Eisenhower 37

The Big Reds snapped a two-game slide and defeated the Eagles at home. Julia Gilbert and Mia Jacobs each scored 13 points for Port Huron, which improved to 10-4. Iliana Williams totaled 10 points while Daija Brown added eight.

The Big Reds are idle until they visit Grosse Pointe North at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Port Huron Northern 39, Grosse Pointe South 21

Abby Landschoot finished with 13 points and two assists as the Huskies topped the Blue Devils on the road. Jersey McGregor added a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double for Port Huron Northern, which snapped a four-game losing streak.

The Huskies improved to 4-8 and will head to Macomb Dakota at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Sandusky 65, Brown City 23

Brooke Jansen recorded a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double and led the Redskins to a blowout victory over the Green Devils. Morgan Taege added 13 points, two assists and two steals for Sandusky, which improved to 12-0.

Brown City fell to 5-7 and was led by Eve Woodall's eight points. Leighanna Bowers and Carley Kalbfleisch each finished with five.

Both teams are back in action at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Redskins will host Memphis and the Blue Devils will travel to Capac.

St. Clair 37, Roseville 21

Paris Henderson scored a team-high nine points for the Saints in their road victory over the Panthers. Erin Seros added nine while Brooke Grazia chipped in six points for St. Clair, which improved to 8-5.
