Girls basketball roundup: Bath tops Carson City-Crystal in district opener

BATH 46, CARSON CITY-CRYSTAL 39

BATH — Annabelle Klusack finished with a team-high 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Bees to a Division 3 district quarterfinal win over MSAC runner-up Carson City-Crystal. Aubrie Schaibly tallied 13 points and four rebounds and Anna Schaibly added eight points for Bath. Aubrey Hessbrook led all scorers with 20 points and Kennedy Stout chipped in 13 points for the Eagles (17-5). The Bees (7-14) move on to the district semifinal to face Ovid-Elsie (18-4) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bath.

MASON 49, JACKSON 29

MASON — Ava Ruster led all scorers with 17 points to help the Bulldogs advance to a Division 2 district semifinals with a victory over Jackson (9-12). Jocelyn Shattuck finished with nine points and Ashlynn Putman added seven points for Mason. The Bulldogs (12-10) will face Jackson Northwest (20-2) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mason.

LESLIE 45, POTTERVILLE 42

LESLIE — Reece DeRose made five 3-pointers and scored a team-high 17 points as the Blackhawks outlasted Potterville for a Division 3 district quarterfinal win. Lily Smeiska scored 12 points and Alayna Brown chipped in 10 points for Leslie. Emily Cates led all scorers with 18 points and Kaylee Bush tacked on 15 points for the Vikings (10-12). The Blackhawks (15-8) advance to the district semifinal to face Springport (18-3) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Leslie.

LANSING CHRISTIAN 51, MORRICE 25

FOWLER — Ava Mustapha led all scorers with 18 points help the Pilgrims secure a spot in a Division 4 district semifinal with a win over Morrice. Lydia Brogan picked up 14 points and Sophie Hazelton added nine points for Lansing Christian. Lily Nowak tallied a team-high 10 points and Aubrey Rogers chipped in six points for the GAC Blue champion Orioles (16-4). The Pilgrims (11-12) move on to face Fowler (15-7) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fowler.

EATON RAPIDS 46, CHARLOTTE 19

EATON RAPIDS — Sofia Kingsley led the Greyhounds with a game-high 13 points and snagged five steals in their Division 2 district quarterfinal win over Charlotte. Kylie Alvarez scored eight points and Abby Thompson added seven points and hauled in eight rebounds for Eaton Rapids. Ava Holmes finished with a team-high seven points for the Orioles (4-19). The Greyhounds move on to the district semifinals to take on Haslett (21-1) at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Eaton Rapids.
