Girls basketball roundup: Lansing Catholic knocks off D3 top-ranked Ypsi Arbor Prep

LANSING CATHOLIC 65, YPSILANTI ARBOR PREP 38

Anna Richards finished with a game-high 22 points as the Cougars (16-5) secured a nonleague home win over Division 3 top-ranked Ypsilanti Arbor Prep (15-6). Gabby Halliwill notched 14 points and Hannah Pricco added seven points and snagged four steals for Lansing Catholic, which is receiving votes outside the top 10 in this week's Associated Press state poll.

DANSVILLE 33, LAINGSBURG 23

LAINGSBURG — Lizzy Carpenter had a team-high 11 points to help the Division 3 top-ranked Aggies clinch an outright CMAC title with a win over Laingsburg (8-12, 4-8). Kourtney Mack scored seven points and Megan Zeitz added six points for Dansville (18-1, 12-0).

IONIA 48, FOWLERVILLE 45

FOWLERVILLE — Aubree White tallied 13 points, six rebounds and four assists to help the Bulldogs outlast Fowlerville (4-17) for the nonleague win. Rajalyaj Esquivel picked up 11 points and dished out seven assists and Londyn Brown chipped in 10 points for Ionia (12-9).

GRAND LEDGE 58, EAST LANSING 38

GRAND LEDGE — Ava Scanlon notched a double-double with a game-high 31 points, 19 rebounds, four steals and three blocks to lead the Comets to a CAAC Blue win over East Lansing. Alayna Armstong added nine points and Olivia Navin dished out four assists and grabbed five steals for Grand Ledge (10-10, 6-4). Sophia Klinger had a team-high 12 points and five assists and Maeve Hadden scored 11 points for the Trojans (3-15, 1-8).

LAKEWOOD 64, CHARLOTTE 21

CHARLOTTE — Cadence Poll turned in a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks to lead the Vikings in their nonleague win. Audrey Hillard added 13 points and eight rebounds for Lakewood (14-6). Delaney O'Dell had six points and six rebounds and Emma Carns finished with six points for Charlotte (2-17)

MASON 44, EATON RAPIDS 24

MASON -- Jocelyn Shattuck led all scorers with 12 points to help guide the Bulldogs to a nonleague home victory over Eaton Rapids. Josie Lator and Aslynn Putman each added 10 points for Mason (11-8). Sofia Kingsley finished with a team-high nine points and Ayla Warden added five points, eight rebounds and four steals for the Greyhounds (5-16). JV score: Mason 52, Eaton Rapids 36

PEWAMO-WESTPHALIA 40, BATH 25

BATH -- An 18-point first quarter propelled the Pirates to a CMAC road win over Bath. Sierra Schneider tallied a team-high 12 points and six rebounds, Mackenna Weber added 11 points and Brooke Spitzley tacked on eight points for Pewamo-Westphalia (15-6, 9-5). Kassi Buck and Maddilyn Johnson each scored five points for the Bees (6-14, 4-8).

LESLIE — Lily Smeiska notched 14 points and pulled down six rebounds to lead the Blackhawks to a nonleague home win over Okemos (2-18). Sam Snider and Rylie Burley each chipped in eight points for Leslie (14-8).

OVID-ELSIE 53, CHESANING 24

CHESANING — Evalyn Cole finished with a team-high 15 points as the Marauders clinched the MMAC title outright with a victory over Chesaning (9-11, 5-7). Braeden Toar and Ava Bates each scored 12 points and Kiah Longoria added seven points for Ovid-Elsie (17-4, 11-0).

ITHACA 64, SHEPHERD 30

ITHACA — Freshman Libby Maurer had a breakout game with 18 points while playing a role in the Yellowjackets (18-3) pushing their win streak to six. Delaney Seaman had a team-high 20 points and Natasha Nowakowski finished with 14 points for Ithaca.

MORRICE 78, INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF FLINT 20

FLINT — Aubrey Rogers had a game-high 35 points to lead the Orioles in their GAC Blue win. Makenzie Doerner had 28 points and Kaylee McGowan added 11 points for Morrice (16-3, 6-1) in its eighth straight victory.

OWOSSO 53, FLINT KEARSLEY 23

OWOSSO — Skotti Ball-Duley picked up 14 points to help guide the Trojans to a Flint Metro League crossover win over Flint Kearsley (2-17). Reese Thayer secured 13 points and Danica Dwyer tallied 11 points and dished out five assists for Owosso (13-7).

CAPITAL HOMESCHOOL 66, FAITH FALCONS 29

MT. PLEASANT -- Ellie Reusser picked up a team-high 15 points and five assists to lead Capital Homeschool to a win over Faith. Bridget Crombie tallied 13 points, four assists and two blocks, Anna Hoch scored 11 points and Abby Motley finished with eight points and four steals for Capital Homeschool.
