Girls basketball roundup: Marysville, Sandusky win big at home

Here are some notable results from Friday's girls basketball games in the Blue Water Area.

Almont 32, Auburn Hills Oakland Christian 26

Jesse Kautz scored a team-high 12 points to help the Raiders improve to 1-1. Lydia LaCavera also finished in double figures with 11 points.

Almont will welcome Macomb Lutheran North at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Kingston 66, Armada 60 (2OT)

The Tigers dropped a heartbreaker in double overtime and fell to 1-1. Ashlyn Upton posted a game-high 22 points for Armada. Meya Drob contributed 16 points and Ella Sutton totaled 11.

A three-game road trip will conclude for the Tigers when they travel to Marlette at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Marysville 47, Port Huron Northern 10

This one was all Marysville. Kara Miller led a balanced scoring attack for the Vikings (1-1) with 10 points. Meghan Winston added nine points and Avery Wolters chipped in eight.

Port Huron Northern fell 0-2 and was led by Charlotte Eastman's four points. The Huskies will look to regroup when they host Grosse Pointe South at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Marysville will visit St. Clair that same night at 6:30 p.m.

Sandusky 65, Burton Bendle 20

Morgan Taege scored a game-high 17 points for the Wolves, who improved to 2-0.

Sandusky had three other players finish in double figures with Brooke Jansen (13 points), Ally Jansen (12 points) and Grace Guibord (10 points). Helena Long finished with five points, six rebounds and three assists.

For coach Al DeMott, it was the 792nd win of his career. He needs six more to become the winningest girls basketball coach in MHSAA history.

The Wolves host Cass City at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Imlay City 48, Clio 38 (Thursday)

Make that 29 straight victories at home for the Spartans. Lexa Forti poured in a team-high 16 points for Imlay City (1-0). Lily Lengemann added 10 points while Makayla Bruman and Alexa Lengemann each had six.

The Spartans traveled to Swartz Creek on Saturday.
