TEKONSHA, MI. — The Tekonsha Lady Indians kept things close with the Litchfield Lady Terriers Thursday night, as a slow second half proved to be the difference in Litchfield’s 29-14 win over the host Indians in SCAA action.

Tekonsha has shown to be a very scrappy squad all season long and Thursday night was no different, keeping up with a solid Litchfield team throughout the night. Despite only managing two points in the first quarter, a pair of free throws from Hailey Owens, the Tekonsha defense only allowed six Litchfield points to see the score at 6-2 after one.

Litchfield barely out distanced Tekonsha in the second quarter, outscoring the host Indians 8-7 to build a 14-9 lead at the half.

The second half is where Litchfield pulled away, only allowing a single Tekonsha point in the third quarter, outscoring the Indians 5-1 to build a 19-10 lead. The fourth quarter saw Litchfield outscore Tekonsha 10-4 to put the cap on the win, taking the 29-14 victory.

Tekonsha struggled hanging on to the basketball much of the night, committing 27 turnovers compared to 12 for Litchfield.

Tekonsha saw four different players score on the night, led by Reagan Henry and Hailey Owens with six points each. Owens added four rebounds in the loss while Henry chipped in with two.

Also helping in the Tekonsha effort was Addison Griffith with one point, one steal, two rebounds and two blocks; Carissa Shedd with two points, two rebounds and four steals; Clara Wart with one steal and two rebounds; Talia Stull with two steals and 10 rebounds; and Abby Wrobel with three rebounds.

Litchfield was led by E. Alvarez who had a game high 11 points while D. Jordan added nine points.

With the victory Litchfield improves to 8-9 overall on the season while Tekonsha falls to 2-16. Tekonsha will next see action Tuesday when they travel to North Adams to face the Rams in more SCAA play.
