Girls Hoops: Browning rallies past Havre

Jan. 15—HAVRE — Lish Spoonhunter scored 16 points and Mecca Bullchild hit two fourth-quarter 3-pointers as the Browning Lady Indians rallied past Havre 59-58 Saturday to stay unbeaten.

Bullchild added 14 points for the Northwest A Lady Indians (8-0), who trailed 46-37 after three periods. Jerel White Grass added 12 points, four in the final eight minutes.

It was a wild finish: After Amaya Jarvis hit a 3-pointer for Havre to knot the score at 57-all with 1:45 left, Sugar Spoonhunter knocked down two free throws — her only points — with 1:24 remaining to put the Lady Indians up for good.

Browning then survived three turnovers in the final minute, including one after Jarvis missed a game-tying free throw with 5.8 seconds remaining. The Havre guard got off a 3-pointer at the buzzer that glanced too hard off the board.

Jarvis finished with a game-high 23 points for Northeast A Havre. The two-time defending State A champion Blue Ponies fell to 5-4.
