Girls lacrosse midseason AGR watchlist: These 39 players are shining

The halfway point of the Section V girls lacrosse season is approaching, which means consistent warmer weather isn’t far behind.

But a group of these area athletes isn’t waiting for the weather to heat things up. There is plenty of lacrosse left to play before the Section V Tournaments kick in, so here are 39 players we think are on their way to being part of the All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year conversation are the end of the season.

Shaye Angelo (Honeoye Falls-Lima): The freshman attacker is the team leader in points and draw controls despite HF-L’s traditionally brutal schedule.

Ellie Bergin (Pittsford): It’s looking like a three-horse race in Class A and this senior midfielder is providing the leadership the Panther were counting as the team’s leading scorer.

Clare Boesel (Palmyra-Macedon): The senior is perfectly fine not scoring goals, using her energy on tenacious on defense that opens the door for teammates to pile up the points.

Lily Brady (Honeoye Falls-Lima): The junior goalie is among the Section V leaders with a save percentage at 47% which includes an impressive eight stops on 8-meter tries.

Maeve Brennan (Irondequoit): The senior attacker leads Irondequoit in scoring, which is important but she also leads the team in grounds, an equally important asset.

Bailey Cooper (Penn Yan): The midfielder scored 41 goals as an eighth-grader last spring and with 29 already this season, she’s on pace to finish with 66. Plus whatever the postseason may bring.

Lena Cox (Rush-Henrietta): The defending Class A champs have a lot of scoring options and this senior attacker is one of them as a steady producer who demands defensive attention to keep the Royal Comets balanced.

Hanna Davis (Canandaigua): There are few, if any, defenders in Section V who can hang with the first step of this junior attacker and she’s well on her way to a third straight season of 30 or more goals.

Reagan Diehl (Palmyra-Macedon): The junior leads Pal-Mac in scoring and has at least two goals in every game this spring, including one six-goal game and two more with three goals.

Natalie DiSanto (Waterloo): The senior midfielder just won a state basketball championship and now, she leads the Tigers in scoring and draw controls.

Madeleine Fitzgerald (Mercy): The senior midfielder is one of several scoring options for the Monarchs, but she’s also the team leader in draw controls to help keep the ball in Mercy’s end of the field on a regular basis.

Emma Francis (Irondequoit): The sophomore goalie is at 42% for save percentage and is the anchor of a unit that’s kept the last eight opponents to single digits.

Melody Gaudio (Eastridge): The winless Lancers are struggling on offense but this junior goalkeeper is doing remarkably well with an impressive save percentage of 46% despite facing a lot of shots.

Danielle Garrett (Rush-Henrietta): The sophomore attacker is good for about a goal a game, but her presence in the middle is what helps create chaos on defense for opponents.

Molly Guzik (Spencerport): The junior is on of those midfielders who does it all and her position as the team leader in scoring, draw controls, ground balls and caused turnovers proves it.

Savannah Hinchcliffe (Aquinas): Yes, the sophomore midfielder scores goals. She has four or more goals in five games so far but she’s reliable on draw controls and forces turnovers as well.

Sienna Hinchcliffe (Aquinas): With 283 career goal already, this senior midfielder is a nightmare for opposing defenders. But she’s also among the Section V leaders in caused turnovers and ground balls.

Paige Kidd (Honeoye Falls-Lima): There isn’t much this junior midfielder can’t do at either end of the field and is the type of player opponents need be aware of at all times because she makes them pay dearly for any lapses.

Lily Kondas (Fairport): Who knows who will end up leading the dynamic Raiders in scoring this season, but this sophomore midfielder will certainly be in the race.

Chelsea Korzeniewski (Mynderse/Romulus): This sophomore attacker’s biggest threat comes as a helper. Of her team-high 42 points, 27 are on assists.

Ada Krupa (Eastridge): The Lancers have 23 goals this season and this sophomore midfielder has 15 of those goals.

Kennedi Landrigan (Irondequoit): This versatile senior can finish in the offensive end or spark transition on defense, making her a tough mark for any opponent.

Devin Livingston (Victor): This junior isn’t alone as a do-it-all midfielder for the Blue Devils but her compete level and speed make her one of the top players in Section V.

Dylan Madigan (Pittsford): The senior attacker has a least one goal in every game this season and two with four goals and it’s that reliability that puts the Panthers in the championship conversation for Class A.

Katie Mallaber (Fairport): The junior midfielder is one of four Raiders in double figures for goals and is a vital part of the offensive balance that drives opponents to confusion on defense.

Mara Misiurewicz (Greece): With games of 6, 7 and 4 goals already, this junior midfielder commands attention in every matchup.

Maci Mueller (Waterloo): The freshman midfielder hasn’t scored fewer than two goals in a game this season and has three games with three or more goals.

Elise Murphy (Brighton): There are plenty of finishers for the Bruins, but this attacker provides senior leadership as the team leader in goals and draw controls.

Angelia Oechsle (Rush-Henrietta): The debate on who is the best goalie in Section V could get heated but with a save percentage at 46%, this junior is in the conversation.

Ava Peers (Fairport): With 14 goals, this senior midfielder is well on her way to a career-best season but her work on draws have been a big part of Fairport’s success this spring.

Ella Peers (Fairport): The sophomore midfielder scored 45 goals last spring and she hasn’t slowed this season with two or more goals in all but one game so far.

Ashlyn Roberts (Rush-Henrietta): The junior midfielder isn’t a team leader in terms of scoring stats but that doesn’t mean she couldn’t. With 10 goals and seven assists, she’s working within the system while leading the team with 12 caused turnovers to contribute at both ends of the field.

Avery Roberts (Rush-Henrietta): This senior midfielder sets the tone for R-H, not only doing everything at either end of the field, but doing it at an elite level.

Peyton Rothfuss (Penfield): This freshman attacker comes from a lacrosse family and her 23 goals has already surpassed the 17 she scored last spring. She has two or more goals in eight games this season, including games of four and five goals.

Maryn Savage (Victor): Defenders rarely get the love they deserve, but this senior is averaging nearly four caused turnovers a game. That’s a big impact.

Addison Schaeffer (Webster Thomas): It hasn’t been the smoothest of sailing for the Titans this season, but this sophomore is a steady producer at both ends of the field and her hustle at both ends of the field is impressive.

Liv Schorr (Canandaigua): The senior midfielder is well on her way to a third straight season with 30 or more goals, but it’s her calm demeanor on the field and patience with the ball that makes her so dangerous.

Megan Springer (Webster Thomas): With a save percentage at 46%, this junior goalkeeper is among the best in Section V and that includes an impressive nine saves on 16 8-meter attempts.

Jaelyne Twomey (Fairport): The Raiders have plenty of offense but teams still need defense this senior goalkeeper provides that. She’s at 46% for save percentage this season and her work will be vital in the push for Fairport’s first Section V title since 2009.
