Girls report attempted abduction in Ansonia, police say

Two girls told police a driver repeatedly tried to get them into his SUV in Ansonia Tuesday night, police said.

The girls, ages 11 and 12, said they were walking in the Ansonia Middle School parking lot on Day Street when a black vehicle drove up. The driver told the girls “several times” to get in, they told officers.

The girls did not get into the SUV and instead ran away, they told police, and the vehicle left.

The car is described as a black, smaller sized SUV. The driver is described as a Black man wearing a red hat, a red shirt and gold-rimmed glasses.

Anyone with information about the driver or the SUV is asked to call Ansonia police at 203-735-1885. Tips may be left anonymously through Tip411 at https://www.tip411.com/tips/new?alert_group_id=21553.
