Girls soccer: Goalkeeper of the Year honors for Seaside's Abygale Brien
Nov. 20—Scappoose replaced Valley Catholic as league champion of Cowapa League girls soccer in 2022, finishing league play with a 10-0 record, before a loss to North Marion in the quarterfinals of the 4A state playoffs.
The Indians were rewarded in Cowapa's all-league awards, as junior Alice Davidson was named as the league's Player of the Year, and Bruno Zanotta was selected as Coach of the Year, as voted on by the league's coaches.
Goalkeeper of the Year honors went to Seaside senior Abygale Brien.
Brien was one of seven Gulls who made the all-league squad, behind the eight selections for Scappoose. St. Helens had five players and Astoria placed three players on the all-league team (juniors Avery Biederman and Ashley Sisley, and sophomore Eva Espelien).
