Girls soccer: Vote now for lohud Player of the Week (Sept. 12-18)

After another action-packed week on the pitch, it's time to look at some of the standout performers from the past week in high school girls soccer.

Last week, Tuckahoe's impact eighth-grader Brooke Matarazzo was voted lohud Player of the Week.

We would like you, the reader, to survey our Player of the Week finalists and cast your vote. The players' credentials are listed above the fan poll — which will be live until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will be announced on social media accounts on Tuesday night.

Izzy Boodell, Edgemont

The senior center back anchors the Panthers' defensive line. She even helped out on the scoring end, netting two goals during the week. She played a big part in a shutout win over Nyack and helping the Panthers get to the finals of the Broncofest Tournament, where she was named all-tournament.

Stephanie Corredor, Clarkstown South

The senior center back has been a lifeline defensively for the Vikings, who remain undefeated after picking up overtime wins over Mamaroneck and New Rochelle, plus a shutout victory over Port Chester. Her high motor and hard-nosed approach has been vital in slowing the opposition's attack and helping the Vikings to victory.

Niki DeNardo, Irvington

The Irvington junior left her mark in all three of the Bulldogs' wins last week. She totaled four goals and two assists. She had two assists against Yonkers Montessori, then scored all Irvington goals in 2-0 wins against Croton-Harmon and Briarcliff.

Helena Kaczmarczyk, Tappan Zee

The sophomore goalkeeper has stepped up big in the Dutchmen's strong start to the season. This past week, she logged shutouts over Suffern and John Jay-Cross River. In the game against the Wolves, she also thwarted a breakaway one-on-one opportunity by John Jay to preserve the shutout. Kaczmarczyk also made multiple big-time saves against Albertus Magnus to help keep the score 0-0, before Albertus Magnus finally broke through on a penalty kick to make it a 1-0 loss for Tappan Zee.

Sofia Kolndreu, Eastchester

The Eagles' veteran goalkeeper extended her shutout streak to three, with wins over Edgemont and Brewster to start the week. The Eagles did fall to Ardsley, where she surrendered two goals on 13 shots, but had admirable week in goal, tallying 20 saves in a 2-1 stretch.

Julia Lombardo, Albertus Magnus

The Falcons have yet to allow a goal this season and their center back has been a big reason why. She leads Albertus Magnus' back line and helped the Falcons add to their collection of shutouts with wins over Bronxville, Tappan Zee and Rye.

Leah Rifas, Ardsley

She played a big part in a 2-0 week for the Panthers, which included wins over Blind Brook and Eastchester. Throughout this stretch, she tallied three goals, including a 42-yard strike on a direct kick against Blind Brook, and one assist.

Elahe Sherrell, Scarsdale

She's played a major defensive role in the Raiders' unbeaten start, and especially so in a draw against John Jay-East Fishkill. Sherrell also scored both of Scarsdale's goals in a big Class AA matchup with North Rockland to end the week.

Ellie Soderburg, Pelham

The helped fuel the Pelicans' undefeated start, scoring or assisting at least once in each of Pelham's three wins over Panas, Nanuet and Edgemont. Soderburg also provided the game-winning goal in the Pelicans' Broncofest Tournament finals, a 2-1 win over Edgemont.

Julianna Vano, Yorktown

The senior forward continues to light up the scoreboard, ascending to the top goal-scorer and overall scorer in the entire Lower Hudson Valley after racking up eight goals and one assist through four matches for the Huskers. Yorktown scored a total of 12 times this past week, and Vano had a hand in 75% of those scoring plays.
