Girls swimming: Our 2022-23 all-state team

Mar. 17—Led by the Daily Camera swimmer of the year Zara Zallen of Boulder, and the Longmont Times-Call's winner in Jamieson Legh, the Boulder, Broomfield and Longmont areas had a total of 18 swimmers make the Colorado High School Activities Association's all-state teams.

Zallen (200 freestyle) was one of three locals to win a state title in the 5A classification, making its first team. Legacy's Sabrina Rachjaibun (500 freestyle) and Fairview's Edith Simecek (100 butterfly) were the others.

In Class 4A, eight area swimmers made first team, led by individual state champs in Legh (100 fly, 100 backstroke) and Longmont's Jordan Bindseil (100 freestyle).

Monarch's winning 200 medley relay of Mia Prater, Eliza Lennox, Audrey Shambo and Gwyneth Christensen also made it. And so did divers Leslie Broz of Silver Creek and Elizabeth Fay of Niwot, who placed second and third, respectively.

Three of the swimmers on Niwot's second-place 400 free relay made the 4A second team in Charlotte Heuer, Rowan Lavigne and Stephanie Mow. (Legh was the other in the relay).

Others on the 4A second team included Broomfield's Myra Wherry (200 free) and Lola Grace Guthrie (dive), as well as Silver Creek's Savannah Wolf (dive).

Holy Family freshman Lorelai Frauenfelder made the 3A second team for her second-place finish in the 100 free.
