GIRLS SWIMMING AND DIVING: Bemidji powers past TRF, Perham/NYM for home sweep

Sep. 14—BEMIDJI — The Bemidji High School girls swimming and diving team swam its way to the top of the leaderboard on Tuesday, sweeping Perham/New York Mills and Thief River Falls in the BHS pool.

In a dual-scoring format, the Lumberjacks topped the Prowlers 210-97 and the Yellowjackets 177.5-136.5.

Bemidji had wins in half of the meet's 12 events. Ava Lietz paced the field in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:19.15, while Abigail Daman did the same in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:12.59.

Ryan Gaskins claimed the 200 IM win in 2:32.10, Naomi Olson clocked a 1:10.19 finish for first place in the 100 butterfly, and Marley Ueland captured top honors in the 500 free with a 6:14.24 finish.

The 200 free relay team of Kylie Donat, Elena Harmsen, Gaskins and Daman also topped the podium in 1:52.48.

On top of all that, BHS recorded six runner-up marks.

Mackenzie Raisch was second in the 500 free at 6:19.87 and second in the 200 free at 2:19.87. Lietz was the runner-up in the 200 IM at 2:41.63, while Donat added a second-place time of 28.11 in the 50 free.

A pair of Lumberjack relays were also second. Harmsen, Gaskins, Donat and Daman clocked a 4:08.34 finish in the 400 free relay, while Ueland, Lietz, Olson and Elle Wille teamed up to finish the 200 medley relay in 2:07.67.

Bemidji will next be in West Fargo, N.D., for an invite starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17.
